Today I was reminded of the importance of getting greedy, mission greedy. Ok did you just smile, I did when I thought about this because, well…greed, it's not necessarily always viewed as a good thing, eh?  But, when it comes to your mission, it can be a really good thing because it stops you from noticing all those shiny objects and other things that might distract you on your path to achieving results that matter.

Getting mission greedy encourages you, to hold onto your mission with maniacal focus by digging deep into your character, leaning into your traits and beliefs and values so that you achieve what's needed.  Now reinforced, measured and developed all those traits, beliefs and values have a better chance to withstand the forces that are out there vying for your attention.  Isn’t that right?

All this reflection came up for me when I was listening to Incorruptible by Eric Ries on my morning walk. And this bit on character reminded me of something that Edgar Schein had said about character. That while values and beliefs and traits can be described as relevant for an individual’s character, they are also used to describe organizational character. That's the ethos part of culture.

As you can imagine, organizational character very much matters, just as it does for individuals, because when it’s aligned, predictable and coherent - it develops trust, confidence, and clarity for not only your employees, but your clients too. Because now people believe in you, they believe in your organization. And your employees – they know what to expect. And your clients - they know what to expect too.  Suddenly, there's trust there again with your aligned coherence, there's a sense of calm.  All because you got mission-greedy.  And you know what, the world needs more of that right now.  So, I encourage you to consider getting mission greedy.

If you'd like to learn a little bit more about centring around mission, I encourage you to join me in one of my free webinars. They happen monthly. You can sign up in the comments. Because the world needs more of this right now.

Join me to become mission-driven by getting mission greedy.

So, I ask you are you ready now?  Are you ready to get greedy?  Come on, let’s go. Please find below the full video of my reflection during my morning walk. Enjoy!
